Hello young world it’s your girl Lyric,
Pressure creates the most valuable diamonds and thru my journey I can see a clarity that can not be purchased in me. I have always admired work ethic because I am a firm believer that in due time it will all pay off. 60 days ago I challenged myself to perform on 50 mics in 60 days. Today I am elated to report that I am officially 49 mics down with 1 mic to go and 1 day to complete it. My time ends at 12:00am tonight…so stay tuned.
I conquered my Forty Eighth and Forty Ninth mic on Friday 9/28/12 in Kankakee, IL at Da La Soul. This was an event where poets related testimonies, ans declared growth and prosperity thru words. I did my poem “Common Cry for help” which is a poem that tells the world no matter where you come from but where you decide to go, you are not alone in your journey nor destination and if fear rises in you grab my hand for I will walk with you because I am certain that brighter days will come. I think it is important to not only talk but to put actions into what you say so I try to give back with the gift God has bestowed upon me.
The second time I got up was with one of Chicago’s primer poet’s name Imani Truth together we are forming the first spoken hip hop group called “Lyrical Truth” so for the first time we performed our song Sister-Hood. This song talks about the competition of siblings that only exists due to fear.
